While there is no alternative to that general alarm sound, you can set a media alarm and choose your favorite music to play. This media alarm option is one of the best updates introduced to Google Home, and it's pleasantly easy to use. You can change the alarm sound on your Google Home to your favorite music by using a voice command.

That’s because there’s a separate controller for alarm and timer volume. The alarms also work on Google Assistant smart displays. Interestingly, you can even set a music alarm, stop the alarm from your phone, and do many other cool things.

Imagine waking up to your favorite song from Spotify! Well, that’s possible with the help of music alarms in Google Home. For that, first, you need to set a default music provider in the Google Home app. You can set Spotify, YouTube Music, etc. as your default music provider. You cannot directly change the alarm tone on your Google Home, Mini, or Nest.

But you can set a music or character alarm tone, as shown in the next section. To change your alarm sound, ask your Google Home to set a media alarm, name the time, and then reply with a song name when prompted by the speaker. There’s plenty of customization and different sounds you can set for the alarm using Google Home. These commands are all self-explanatory, e.g. you see that you can easily set an alarm, cancel it, snooze it, check all the alarms, etc.
